  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 oz spaghetti

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a splash of olive oil. Sauté the chopped onion for about 5 minutes until translucent; add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  2. Increase heat slightly, add ground beef, and brown for 6-8 minutes until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato paste; mix well.
  4. Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; let simmer on low heat for at least 20 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, boil salted water and cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente (about 8 minutes). Drain but do not rinse.
  6. Plate spaghetti and generously top with meat sauce; garnish with fresh basil or Parmesan cheese if desired.
