Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp clove
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • Baking soda (for boiling)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, brown sugar, and yeast. Let sit until bubbly.
  2. Gradually stir in pumpkin puree, spices, sea salt, and flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for about five minutes on a floured surface.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise until doubled in size (about one hour).
  4. Punch down the dough and divide it into equal pieces. Shape each piece into pretzels.
  5. Boil water with baking soda; drop each pretzel into boiling water for about 30 seconds before transferring them to a lined baking sheet.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake pretzels for about ten minutes or until golden brown.
