Pizza Casserole is the ultimate comfort food, bringing together all your favorite pizza flavors in a cozy, baked dish. Imagine layers of al dente pasta, rich pizza sauce, gooey cheese, and savory toppings baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups penne pasta
  • 1 jar (24 oz) pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 cup chopped bell peppers
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat until fully cooked.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked pasta, browned meat, pizza sauce, vegetables, half of the mozzarella cheese, and half of the pepperoni.
  5. Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish; top with remaining mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly.
