  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped pistachios
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk with yeast and sugar; let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the center, add the yeast mixture and melted butter; stir until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  3. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture and chopped pistachios. Roll tightly from one side to another; slice into 12 pieces and place cut-side-up in a greased baking dish.
  4. Let rise again for about 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for approximately 25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Mix powdered sugar with enough milk to achieve desired consistency for drizzling over rolls before serving.
