Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough
  • 2 cups raw pecans, chopped
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Unroll the phyllo dough, covering it with a damp towel to prevent drying.
  3. Layer six sheets of phyllo in the dish, brushing each with melted butter. Optional: add some chopped pecans between layers.
  4. In a bowl, combine chopped pecans, brown sugar, cinnamon, and maple syrup; mix well.
  5. Spread half the pecan mixture over the phyllo layers. Add six more buttered phyllo sheets on top, then layer the remaining pecan mixture followed by more phyllo sheets.
  6. Cut into diamond or square shapes before baking for easier serving. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before drizzling with honey or additional maple syrup.
