Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, milk, and egg until smooth. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients to form a sticky dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the risen dough to about half an inch thick and cut into squares or triangles.
  6. Heat oil in a deep pot to about 350°F (175°C). Fry each piece for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
