  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: Fresh thyme or rosemary for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  3. Thinly slice the potatoes using a sharp knife or mandoline.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Stir in heavy cream, salt, pepper, and herbs if using.
  5. Layer half the potatoes in the baking dish; pour half the cream mixture over them. Repeat with remaining potatoes and cream.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for about 45 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
